Hi, I’m Ruth, the maker behind Playful Crochet by Ruth.

I love the comfort and happiness that handmade things can bring, and crochet has become my favorite way to create a little bit of that magic.

What started as a way to relax and unwind turned into a love of making crochet plushies—little creatures with big personalities and plenty of character. Every one is made by hand, one stitch at a time, with lots of care and a whole lot of joy.

My Crochet Journey

I didn't set out to build a crochet business. I picked up a crochet hook because I wanted to learn something creative and relaxing.

​

Then I discovered amigurumi.

​

There was something completely irresistible about taking a ball of yarn and turning it into a tiny animal, character, or creature with a personality of its own. Before long, I wasn't just crocheting to relax—I was thinking about what I could make next.

​

That little hobby grew into Playful Crochet by Ruth, where I now share the things I make, what I've learned along the way, and the behind-the-scenes reality of being a maker.

Why I Create Plushies

For me, crochet is about more than following a pattern.

​

It's about creating something that makes someone smile.

​

A little plushie can become a favorite toy, a thoughtful gift, a piece of childhood nostalgia, or simply a cheerful little friend sitting on a shelf. I love imagining the person who will eventually take one of my creations home.

And there's something pretty special about knowing that something made by hand can bring a little happiness into someone else's day.

I have a soft spot for pastel colors, tiny details, whimsical characters, and plushies that make people stop and smile.

And I'm still figuring things out.

That's part of what I enjoy about this journey. I'm learning, experimenting, trying new ideas, discovering what people love, and sharing the process along the way.
